Business of the Remix (2005 CD)![]() |
"Roche
comes correct with a very well-arranged, eight-song vinyl EP.
Great drum programming combined with well-placed and well-timed
sample chops. (The song "Chai I Tray" is a great example
of this.) This EP is truly an example of how sampling should be
done. Not a dull moment on this record!" - BPM Magazine, review by Mr. Echoes from The Opus (Mush Records) |
Roche
& Louis: Claiming Space |
"Between
the distorted electronics of "Intro Fo Show," the ghostly
orchestrations and babbling vocal samples of 'Back Again Da Monk
Stylee' and the manipulated tripmospheres over the breaks of 'Breaks
Down,' you're gonna find what you need as far as bong-hit soundtracks
and DJ tools." - XLR8R Magazine, Issue #72, November 2003 |
Faith of the Remix (2005 CD) |
"Lo-Fi
and crunchy breaks, mellow soundscapes, and dubby atmospheres.
From the lushness of DJ SHADOW to the minimalism of early DJ KRUSH,
this runs the gamut of great downtempo. Check the sound samples." - Groove Distribution, November 3, 2003 |

A Berkeley, CA native, Solos co-founder Roche started rapping in 7th grade after his brother challenged him to a battle while doing the dishes. A few years later he was sent away to the woods to become a better person, where, the age of 17, he started making beats (with a yamaha qy20 and a 4 track). After he was released, Roche spent the the next two years studying electronic music in Eugene, OR, living with 4 other musicians, and making tons of noise. With the bigger picture in mind, he decided to drop out of school to move back to Berkeley and put out a record. Since then he has released four projects on Solos Records, produced several exclusive podcasts, and appeared on two compilations for Solos Records and two compilations for Expel Records. Currently Roche is working on a slew of remixes, some secret side projects and a new album.
