Roche: Degage (Digi-Release)
![]() |
Roche lives in a city that spends it's
mornings engulfed in a thick fog that generally dissipates to an
afternoon of sunshine, followed by a cold, dark evening. "Degage", his
new EP follows that same pattern by deploying sounds of sorrow and
synthesis over heart pounding drums that are continually built up and
deconstructed.
Tracks like "Ice Job" and " My House Is A Dark House" bring a certain level of repetitive intensity and conservative focus that is also found in early house and dubstep 12's, while "SK Rhythm" celebrates Roche's hiphop foundation and goes to a brighter, less restrained direction. A lo-fi vibe permeates the entire release, vinyl samples run through vintage hardware and warmly fuzz and crunch their way through each track. |
