| Solos Records was founded
in 2003 by Bay Area producers Roche and DJ Enso. The artists on our
label include Yao, Bookworms, CB Radio, Jovian, and Louis AKA
Livingston Gains. We are an international community of musicians,
visual artists and cultural critics rooted in the hip-hop and musique
concrète schools of avante-garde expression. Solos was borne out of our
desire to support the creative explosion of art happening around us,
and provide a vehicle for it to reach a wider audience. We release
curiously forward-thinking music on CD, wax, podcasts and through
hand-to-hand combat in spontaneous mediums. Many of the old "rules" no
longer apply to this game; we hereby call your attention to new artists
constantly reaching to the next level.
We are fundamentally alone as artists;
our works are as divorced from each other as we are. And much like any
musical solo that cuts through the chorus to let itself be heard,
inspected, and challenged, we expect the same artistic courage from
ourselves. This is our pledge: Together we will support artistic
courage in all its forms. Collaboration drives us to greatness as
individuals, our gaze is manifold — hence we manifest SOLO(S).
